RAKU - A Review of Contemporary Work by Tim Andrew ,
In this book Tim Andrew traces the history of Raku including its introduction to the West by Bernard LEach in the 1920s up to the present day. He particularly illuminates those early years with anecdotes from his son and studio partner, David Leach. He then discusses various raku techniques but the main thrust of the book is an exploration of the wor and motivation of a number of international potters who use the medium today. These range from the monumental work of David Roberts to the 'sculptural' work of Paul Soldner and the animated figures of Michael Flynn. Hundreds of black and white and color photos throughout this fascinating book.
